I'm horrified but not particularly surprised, Florida is one of the more socially vile and backward states. Yet another reason why the West Coast is the only portion of the US I'd consider living in.
I wonder how they class intersex babies in the first place... Then again, given that it's *Florida*, I seriously doubt that I want to know. Jaysus, can't the West Coast just secede?
Oh, the medical profession is in the habit of doing horrible things to intersex babies and has been for years. They generally pick a sex and snip. If the kid turns out to identify as the other gender? Well, too bad. *shudders*
Being Floridian, I was shocked and appalled when I read the newspaper article ... I still haven't figured out how to respond, beyond ranting, raving and commenting on them exactly as sethanikeem so eloquently noted above.
I need to reread the article to know whom to fire; they are not *my* public servants, and they need, in no uncertain terms, to know that.
