My uncle Walter (my mother's adoptive brother) apparently died two days after my dad was laid off, on the 19th of February. He had lung cancer (I didn't know this) and had gone into the hospital after contracting pneumonia, and died there. I have no emotions one way or the other about this, as I only recall meeting the man once or twice and the most recent was when that grandmother (his and my mother's mother) died, something like 13-15 years ago. My mother was never fond of him herself, and seems to be in a state of "whoa, weird. And this means I have almost no relatives left." (her only remaining relations that are not through my father are two cousins, one who is about 75 and another near 90) more than anything one could call "grieving".
