One thing I gotta say for all the waiting time involved in installing Windows X number of times is that if affords one a lot of chance to read. I finished the last part of When I See the Wild God and got 3/4 of the way through The Psychic Vampire Codex in a single sitting. O.o

So how's the codex? I've heard good things about it.

Definitely worth the purchase (I even paid full cover price). By the end of it it starts to seem like the same things are getting said over and over, but maybe that's a lack of diverse terminology or something. There's a whiff of "Kheprians are superior to other beings" which gets to me sometimes, but I think that may have to do with the origin of the material, not originally having been intended to be published in the form you now see. And of course the book succeeds in making me feel wholly inadequate because my abilities don't match up to what people like this have inborn, but that's no fault of Michelle's, it just is what am.

That "we are superior" thing isn't so uncommon in a lot of fringe texts, and I wonder sometimes if it isn't part self-defense. After all, if you aren't someone who gets to lead a comfy normal life, there should be some benefit. In this case, without having seen it, you're probably right about it not being originally meant for a non-vampire audience.

As a side note, I think a lot of folks feel similarly when reading magic/pagan/were books and using them as an interenal calendar of what they can't do. It's not just you, I do it too and I think a lot of folks tend to. Certainly not Bellangers' fault.
