hella bored.

I searched an entire second cart of books yesterday (that is, looked up in the catalog to see if we already owned them) just because I had nothing better to do. But Tom hasn't come down and looked at either of them, possibly because he is still waiting at his apartment for the refrigerator guy to come, but he didn't drop by at all yesterday either. I would catalog ones that are on the shelf waiting to be catalogued, but 1) Carole hasn't yet trained me to use the new client software for OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), and 2) even if she had, there's no room left on the shelves which hold the various "problem" books that the assistant (that's me, in this context) isn't able to catalog, because she hasn't done carts of those herself to clear the shelves. There's two standing order items I could process, but there's no room on the "added volumes" shelf where those go, either, for the same reason.

As a consequence, I have been dicking around on the net for like three straight hours now. This is fine when I am specifically doing it to shirk work (nah, I don't really do that) but when it's the only alternative to picking my nose (metaphorically speaking)?

Overflowing problem shelf is an occupational hazard.

Running out of things to do can be, too. I spent four straight hours on the desk yesterday, playing day-care-provider for a huge swarm of unattended kids. Then the second half of the day was so slow that even the internet got boring. (Which doesn't really take too long, these days.)
