From the Department of Stuff It Would Be Silly to Move to Canada:

Any idea what I can do with my prom dress? It was bought for my senior ball and I don't believe I've worn it since, so it's hung in a closet for ten and a half years. I probably still fit into it, but I have no idea what I need a formal dress for anymore, and in any case it is no longer really my style. I am not keen to try to sell it on eBay since I have never done that and don't feel like getting set up for all the fees and stuff. I don't want to just donate it to Goodwill since it is in good condition and I should be able to get at least some money out of it (although I might be willing to give it away to a friend in specific, if my mother would allow that).

I have one formal dress myself, despite being so NOT a girly-girl, those things are expensive and ocasionally are useful. I was grateful for it when my sister got married and I got a short-notice invitation, doubly so because I didn't have money back then to actually buy another formal gown. I'd suggest unless you have another formal gown for such a purpose, that you might want to hang on to it, assuming it does fit.

For what occasion though? It is not the sort of thing I would be wearing to anyone's wedding, given the kind of friends I have; goth attire would be more likely to be appropriate, and even if not, this is a "ball gown" kind of thing and wouldn't work for a wedding (unless I were the bride, and then it's the wrong colour). It certainly wouldn't be worn to a funeral. I don't go to formal dances or dinners or anything like that.
