heartssdesire made a wonderful post on language, culture and thought: "If we have no word for love that is distinct from the pop-consumer meaning of love, will we be less able to feel deep love, less able to recognize and nourish it in our lives? I think so. I think this cultural process is quite serious. And not an accident. The shallower we become, the less cognizant of deep human experience, the better consumers we are; the marketing industries know this."
