Well, you have knives don't you? I think the handbook was thinking "in one bite" or "all at once". Cut that sucker in half and spread some butter on it!

The rule actually states that you're not supposed to do so without proper training. In a nutshell, you need to unhinge your jaw, suppress your gag reflex, and use a broomstick as a plunger. Being able to hold your breath for up to three minutes helps too.
