unique interests

I have one unique interest (out of 144 ewwww, my interests are gross!) in my profile, the four cities, by which I mean the cardinal-direction cities of the Tuatha De Danann from which they brought their Sword, Spear, Cauldron, and Stone (although there are some other implications for me as well). Do you have any unique interests listed? What are they?

My unique (at the moment) interests are:

faërie, faît accompli, intelligent squirrels, looking for the "and", maiaë, real soon now, sine sapientia, sola sapientia, third person neuter

I'm honestly surprised that some of these are unique interests. I mean, "faërie" is unique...?

I don't have any right now; my interests were removed (and will probably stay gone) because of Strikethrough. But I've been migrating to InsaneJournal, and copied my interest list over. Several of them are unique there (it's much smaller); only two were unique at LJ:

marvic denjas, yelf.

Marvic Denjas was the gaming store in Livermore when I was about 10. It lasted a couple of years, I think, and was where I bought my first D&D books. It's listed on the off chance that anyone I gamed with in middle school ever goes looking for other people from that time & place.

Yelf is an in-game joke. Different crowd; same reason for listing it.

(Fictional scriptures used to be unique, but ebonypearl adopted it. I was referring to books like the Necronomicon and Codex Serephinianus and The Orange Catholic Bible and The King In Yellow.)

Small world. I grew up in Livermore, but Marvic predates me; I was there during the era of ... oh, what was it called. The comic book store at the corner of First and Livermore, a few doors down from the video arcade.

Of course, these days I only really get into the Bay Area for cons. Even that's probably long gone.

I remember the comic store. I think it changed names at least once, maybe twice, which is why I can't remember what it's called. (I want to say "Comix & Comix," but I'm not sure that's it. I think it also had a large, memorable sign that wasn't its official name but some people called it that anyway.)

Fox walking is a quiet, slow, barefoot way of walking that I learned at the Tom Brown School. Scatter band is marching band except you just run into formation, then stand there playing. Stanford does it as well as all the Ivies except Cornell, and probably some other schools I'm forgetting (Rice?) so I'm a little surprised that it's a unique interest. It's also known as "scramble band" so maybe that's it. And Vitis is the genus of grape, left on my list from my work on grape with the USDA.

Yeah, where you start from the outside edge of the foot and roll inward, and don't put any weight on the foot until it is flat on the ground. I'm not sure how that is like a fox.

Quite a few, actually:

Alterati - An online journal devoted to alternative culture that I write for occasionally.

Character Entity Codes - Things like … for & and such. Basically every job I've had since college has involved updating content on web sites so there's a few that it's damned handy to know.

Ecdysiasm - a psychological disorder that compels the afflicted to strip. The derivative term ecdysiast has since been reclaimed by the exotic dancer community as a more interesting word than "stripper".

Harnessing Creative Energy - I've got lots of creative impulses, but I don't often do anything with them - this is as much a note to self as anything.

Intellectual Property Issues - One of the reasons I got let go from MacAddict after the Great Embezzlement was that I had turned the website's news pages into a collection of copyright law articles that were only tangentially related to Macs.

Microtactix - A very interesting online company that sells print-and-build play aids for 3D games. Among other things.

Mythos Media - A company I'm attempting to help found.

Sardonic Musicals - Andrew Lloyd Webber, not so much. Batboy: the Musical and All Men Are Dogs are more my speed.

Star Wars Pocket Models - A new collectible game I've been playing. Fast, affordable, and addictive.

Weird-Ass Random Facts - Like the fact that the Battle of Gettysburg only happened because the Confederate detachment in that area was desperate for shoes and so strayed from their assigned path to get some, and the Union forces in that area were led by a cowardly commander attempting to route his forces around the spot where intelligence said the Confederates would be appearing.
