I have had occasion to say recently (elsewhere) that there are not many foods I won't eat. Leaving aside all the ones I haven't actually tried yet, I thought that maybe I should take a count and see if it really is "few", or if I have just as many as the next person.

  • Bananas, except in banana bread
  • Cantaloupe
  • Eggplant
  • Okra
  • Squid; octopus (although once I had baby octopus that was ok)
  • Cooked salmon (raw is fine)
  • Clams and clam chowder
  • Bleu cheese (EW EW MOLD I just can't get over the idea)
  • Egg yolk (e.g. in hardboiled, fried or poached eggs, although I like devilled eggs)
  • Lima beans (weird chalky texture; I'm fine with every other bean I can think of)
  • Avocado, except in the tiny bits they put in maki, and occasionally I encounter good fresh guacamole (if I wanted to eat axle grease, I'd eat axle grease)
  • Persimmons
  • Eel (unagi); giant surf clam or whatever that other one is called
  • Organ ("variety") meats

Things I am merely not fond of:
  • Large amounts of garlic
  • Zucchini and other similar squashes (depends on the preparation, sometimes I actually like them)
  • Cream sauces
  • Goat and sheep milk cheeses (too pungent/sour/I dunno what the problem is -- I like feta, but I have only had cow's milk feta, which isn't the real deal)
  • Cooked peas (on alternate Tuesdays -- sometimes I do like them)
  • Mango, guava, papaya (fine in smoothies; usually too soft and slimy whole)
  • Honeydew melon (sometimes ok)
  • Flowers used as a flavour (jasmine, rose, lavender), except I do like violet quite a bit

Yeah, I dunno. Is that average? Less? It doesn't seem to be more picky than average, at least.

Seems about average to me. :)

My list is pretty long, personally...used to be /so terribly fussy/ but as age has crept up we really started eating a lot more things. (I mean, we had to be tricked into even consenting to try Chinese when we were 20. Sorrow, all those missed egg rolls...)

The 'No, I'm not really hungry' list:

Organ meats - ew, that's cat food, not people food.
Veal - no matter how good it is, it's still a baby animal, and we know it.
Mushrooms - Gross! The texture and taste...just no.
Eggplant - Texture again.
Avocado - Texture...
Nothing whatsoever that's alive, or raw.
Nothing that can look at us off the plate. Ew, remove head please.
Anchovies - too fishy and strong.
Anything with visible mold.
Kimchee
Sauerkraut
Blood puddings, blood sausages
Broccoli - a leftover from childhood I think. None for me thanks!

I enjoy everything you listed. :)

I'm with you on pretty much the whole list (although I wonder how one can not like salmon cooked, but enjoy it raw), with the exceptio of Bleu Cheese. This is about the only salad dressing I'll eat, and the chunkier the chunks of cheese, the better. Yum!

Cream sauces are okay sometimes, sometimes not. Ditto eggplant.

I don't really like okra too much, but my mom made fried okra that was pretty good.

Allow me to add watermelon to this list. Just the scent of it makes me a little queasy.
