Hi kids! that was an earthquake! Whee!

5.6! wowsers! didn't feel that big to me. I thought 4.0 at the most.
big ol' red blot, lol.

ETA: Apparently that was a lot more nerve-wracking for the folks at home, to wit, my parents (and the quite freaked-out dog). I was underground in a concrete-and-steel building at the time, for one thing, while they were above in a wood-frame house. Apparently it shook the place pretty good, but nothing got broken or anything.

Did something happen to it, or am I imagining things again?

Date: Oct. 31st, 2007 03:53 am (UTC)From:I live in Tennessee and we've had two earthquakes in the 4.0 range in the last ten years. The first one sounded like something exploded, and I could feel a wave travelling through the kitchen floor. The second one was centered in northern Alabama, and I was sleeping when it started. I woke up thinking I heard thunder, and then I heard the roof of my house shake as if wind was coming through it. The bed seemed to shake a little and then it was over. I sent in my comments to USGS about that one.
Usually when we have earthquakes, people always think it's a sonic boom, so they check with the airport first, lol, and they never know what's going on. :)
