Good things that have happened in the past two days:

enotsola got his Employment Authorization Document (NB: this is not permanent residency. It allows him to work, not to leave and get back in), so today we shall hie to the Social Security office to apply for a number for him. Then, of course, he gets the fun of looking for work...
2. I was selected from two candidates to transfer into the Cataloging position being vacated by the current cataloger after 20 years. I knew this was going to happen since about last July, since she was dissatisfied with having her reclassification request (read: to get her position moved up the overall salary scale) denied, and decided to just wait out the 20 years because it makes some difference in her post-separation benefits. So this means that depending on how you count it, it's taken me 2 to 2.5 years to completely reset (+1 husband)* from the big detour I took in my life when I decided to give up the job I had and go to Canada. I'll be back in the same department (the one I'd rather be in) and I've recovered my savings pool to pre-jaunt levels. (Also, I am in fact being paid even more now, due to a COLA in the meantime and having gone one more step in my class's scale.)
