arethinn: glowing green spiral (confused (ariel got nothin))
So tell me: when a site offers multiple feed formats, why might I want to choose one or the other? What are the differences between RSS1, RSS2, and Atom? There seem to be some differences in whether you can embed various types of content and what exactly gets sent out over the feed (some of mine seem to be titles only, others plus article text, although I suppose that's configurable by the webmaster), but I have not been able to find a simple table or something that will lay it all out for me. Specifically I guess I want to know whether to choose RSS2 or Atom, since I assume RSS2 is superior to RSS1 (for my purposes).

i am not certain but i THINK that Atom is a non-open format, and RSS1 does not support media embeds.

but please don't assume I'm correct.
