Does anyone out there happen to have a woodruff plant in their yard? I wanted to make some May wine and bought dried woodruff, and I fear it's just not going to cut it. If I crumble it in my fingers I can faintly smell its characteristic odor, but it's clearly very weak in essential oils compared to the fresh stuff, apparently not something that well handles being dried and stored.

===a reasonable amount. It seems to do best in a good quality potting mix I use, in a planter box with semi-good drainage in a mixed shade (More shade than sun...mine is by the bottom stoop of my front steps, under a bit of the shade of a ix, with higher maple overstory.)

Ah not so far--I don't have a lot of it, a few hands full would be all I could spare.
Unfortunately, the gophers developed a taste for it. How much do you need? I gave some cuttings to a friend---She Might have some...

Won't help you that we have it here in abundance. It needs to be used fresh or better, just a tiny bit wilted, then you have the best flavour. You can make a syrup that keeps the flavour, I don't have recipes though.
