Current processing time in Buffalo is anywhere between 16 and 36+ months, depending from many factors. Main factors are - need for interview, applicant's background, nationality and countries of residence.

For me this means somewhere between this coming September and May 2006 or more. It's hard to say at this point. "Just keep waiting" is all I can do. I'd be terribly surprised if I heard from them before June or July.

isn't there another port of entry in Washington? maybe they have shorter wait times there than in Buffalo. what about Detroit?

in any event, i'd think you'd end up closer to the 16-month mark; from the research i did when i was considering emigrating to Canada, US citizens don't have quite the amount of red tape to deal with as people coming in from other countries...

"Port of entry" is not the same as "place you can apply for immigration". All US applications go through Buffalo, where there is a consulate. My passively gathered information indicates that family class (which I am not), especially spousal, is the fastest. I would be surprised if I were there before this time next year, at the earliest.

PS you are correct, as far as I can tell, to say that US citizens get quicker times compared to people from other countries, but that's relative, within the same class.
