This is why I ignore my inbox here; because I get the notifications via email already. ;)

Well, right, but then it just keeps filling up and I have to keep emptying it. It's a task I would rather not have to do.

Does something happen if one doesn't empty it? I ignore it, too, and I haven't gotten any messages like, "Your inbox is full and you must empty it."

So, AFAICS, it's basically a useless misfeature that can be ignored?

I don't know if there's actually some eventual consequence to doing nothing, but seeing the number of notifications in the navigation bar at the top of reading page/journals just bugs me.
