I am getting really tired of the number of times per day I read that some political figure or commentator "blasted", "slammed", or "ripped" someone else. I wish we could stop constantly using language of violence like this.

It isn't even the commentary websites necessarily, this is just sampled from my own local newspaper headlines (San Jose Mercury). *sigh*
