Having been a traditionalist Wiccan for a few years of my life, I disagree with a lot of the sentiment behind what's written here, but that doesn't mean I don't still find the text funny: Wiccan Fatwa
I'm in the coziest position from which to watch this: as a Bokononist, I can just nod and smile and say, "Yup, it's all pretentious bullshit, and so is yours, and so is mine. Care for a mango?"
I really do try to maintain my respect, but when somebody withdraws that respect from somebody else's religion, It's really hard not to chuckle. A Thelemite criticizing a Wiccan for not being realistic is just the funniest damn thing. "YOU WORSHIP THE SILENT PINK GRAPEFRUIT IMPROPERLY!" :)
I got a few chuckles from this. Specificly about the kool aid and hostess snack cakes. I don't know. My mom is into the fluffy white light stuff and I have to say it has its certain merits. Mostly in that it is completely inoffensive and can make people have warm fuzzies. Its just when people start to seriously exploit this for money that bugs me.
I kinda half-cribbed it from Dana Carvey, of all people. They interviewed him on Nickelodeon looooong time ago, and he was complaining about celebrity and what a sham it was -- that if they had a cable channel that was nothing but a big grapefruit on a pedestal, with a spotlight shining on it, 24 hours a day, people would still gather around the water cooler at work and chat, "Hey! You see the grapefruit last night?"
