Those of you who know about my Canadian application and all... don't get too excited about that last post I made. I am only relieved that they actually are acknowledging that they received my application and created a file for me, as opposed to, I don't know, it having gone in the recycle bin. I'm a long way yet from actually being a permanent resident. They say it will take up to 52 more weeks (a year) for them to send me any assessment of my application, which is really what my potential immigration hinges on. It's not the time yet for welcome beavers ([livejournal.com profile] kissspooky, this means you!).

yeah, I realize it was simply an acknowledgement, not an "ok" on the Canadian Government's part, but I just wanted an excuse to buy someone a beaver...:P

At least you got that much.
There were several US INS workers recently prosecuted for dealing with a six month backlog in applications and renewals by shredding it. (Which came to light when said applicants started getting deported).
Good luck with the rest of the process.
