Okay, fine, the meme was silly. Sheesh. I suppose that's what I get for trying to start something on purpose rather than it happening by accident, just the same as you can't purposely create tradition. Never mind then.
Well, I did in fact spend a fairly good portion of my salary adjustment (post I made some time ago about my classification being moved on the salary scale, and the back pay adding up to about a $3000 lump sum bonus), even after you take out the taxes and cut it in half (I divide my pay 50/50 savings/checking); for example, a $200+ bronze athame I've been lusting after for some time. While that might be a mildly interesting post on its own (and once I receive it I probably will post about it), that's not something that other people can do and propagate. ($300 more of it went to various presents for other people :P and $400 for enotsola's Christmas plane ticket.)
Anyway talking about spending money on myself is pretty uncomfortable when I often see people posting in their journals about how they are out of work and maybe wondering what they are going to do for food next month. Trying to get people to give each other things would be involving them, rather than just involving myself.
