  • Cherry (plum? I can never tell without the fruit hanging on them) blossoms, though only on the two early trees on the northwest point of campus, and one or two singular blossoms on a couple other trees I saw yesterday
  • Hummingbird spotted today, looking kind of like this one: http://www.montereybay.com/creagrus/Hummingbird_stripetail-CR.jpg (not that kind as that is a tropical species, but that colour)
  • Persimmon blossoms have been going since early January
  • Tons of something that might be Golden Shower Tree, although I can't say for sure without looking close, but it looks that way from a distance driving along Foothill Expressway and "very drought tolerant and grows best in full sun, hot, and dry conditions" is a prime candidate for being planted along highways around here; in any case, something with tons of cascading bright yellow flowers
  • Some kind of ornamental tree often planted in parking lots around here that has lots of white flowers is also in full bloom, being an overachiever like the persimmons
  • Everything else is covered with buds liek whoa
  • The area under the spruce (?) trees that line the north side of campus, which was completely dry dirt and spruce needles in the summer (it had a strong, pleasant smell baking in the hot sun), is now a thick green carpet of grass and other small plants due to rains (wow, they can sure stay dormant without water a lot longer than people can.)

Perhaps some pictures to come later if it doesn't rain much today (I don't have a way to protect my camera).
