By the way, today is my dad's 65th birthday. He'll start collecting Social Security in six months. He's already enrolled in Medicare. It's kind of freaky. His health is deteriorating though... besides high blood pressure and anxiety attacks, he seems to be getting the same too-slow pulse rate (slow pulse and high blood pressure - weird combo) that his mother started to develop as she aged, and he fears he may end up with a pacemaker like she did.
Up to this point I have maintained that no one who is younger than my parents is old, but I think that's going to have to start breaking down soon. Heck, I just turned 27 myself, thus passing into "late twenties" from "mid-twenties". My mother likes to say "almost 30" (I disagree - 29 is "almost 30"), but I think the unsaid first part of the sentence is "wtf? my baby girl is..." and she is just poking her brain with that factoid for the shock value. That and she doesn't like the idea that she's in her early 60s herself, so she's trying to make my age sound closer to hers. (Obviously mathematically it can never get any closer, but there sounds like a little more difference between 27 and 61 than there does between, say, 50 and 84. So I think she'll just have to wait.)
