Dear Book Donor:

A college library doesn't have a lot of use for children's books.

kthxbye.

What about all the early childhood education students who need to use them? (I'm serious, our University library's Currirculum Resources Collection has a range of children's books for study purposes. Also, one of my friends did her Honours thesis on children's literature.)

Point taken, but the Child Development section of our course catalog isn't that large, and overall it isn't the sort of thing we focus the library collection on. We do take some "young adult" materials but not stuff aimed at 6-year-olds.

Berkeley's has one roomfull of them. With people in the room, even.

Hmm... pass them on to a children's library or local library or me? :)

If you're serious about that, the titles I have on my desk are:

Sam the Minuteman (Nathaniel Benchley)
We Are All in the Dumps with Jack and Guy (Maurice Sendak)
A Very Special House (Ruth Krauss)
Richard Scarry's Bedtime Stories
Baby Farm Animals
The Berenstain Bears Go Out for the Team
The Rand McNally Book of Favorite Animal Stories

I was semi-serious. I would happily take We Are All in the Dumps with Jack and Guy (Maurice Sendak), Richard Scarry's Bedtime Stories, Baby Farm Animals and The Rand McNally Book of Favorite Animal Stories.

Hey, we gotta get started on Kitten's library, right?
