elf alert?

I swear there's an elf sitting on that computer over there *points through my cubicle wall to station A1*. When he came in here a couple days ago I got a really weird ping-deep-cold sensation when I happened to catch his eyes for a second. On the other hand, maybe I'm making a mistaken assumption and all I'm getting (if in fact anything, and not just my head being crazy) is "powerful human", not "elf" at all. Other things are confusing the situation, such as his being tall and relatively slender and having long hair.

The direct approach *does* work sometimes. I.e., "hello, do you know why you're pinging?"

Perhaps, but I tend to be rather shy and not speak unless spoken to, especially with weird questions like this.
