I was thinking about it, although it would kind of require shirking work and taking off after 8 pm closing ASAP, rather than staying til 9:15 like I'm really supposed to.
I work the afternoon/evening shift in the Open Media Lab at De Anza College. We close at 8 pm, but I have to stay until after 9 (in an ongoing schedule sense) to keep my swing shift bonus pay, and our time is counted in quarter-hours, so that means 9:15. It was less silly when we closed at 9 and so I spent half an hour doing the cash drawer and other closing-type stuff and went home at 9:30. (I don't think it's late enough to be true swing, but they call it that, and who am I to argue with a shift differential?)
They happen monthly. "Meetup" is a site that acts as a back-end for coordinating "birds of a feather" type meetups for lots of various interests. You pick your location and whatever topics you want to sign up to be included in and then you get emails to vote on a location, RSVP, etc. The date is chosen by the system, though, as far as I can tell (it's the same day of the week and week of the month, each month). You can see the Livejournal Meetup page (http://livejournal.meetup.com) for example.
