playlist of hugeness +2

If I add almost all my mp3s to a single playlist (a few I leave out because I want to keep them for some reason, but don't generally want to hear in rotation), I have 7.8 solid days of music. An awful lot of it is legit, too (for example, I ripped a bunch off the like 30 Cure discs I have). I have no idea how this compares to anyone else out there. How many hours have you got?

I have about 9.5 days ripped, that's not my entire music collection though--I actually need to sit down and rip the rest of it because the computer that now functions as my stereo has the room for it all.

Oh gods, I would never have the patience for that. Being the girlfriend (now long since ex) of a guy who worked in a record store got me a pretty good-sized collection... somewhere over 200 CDs (although I gather that's pretty pathetic compared to some people). Probably about three-fourths of them have had at least one song ripped, but only a few (aside from about half the Cure) have been done so in their entirety.

I haven't really had the heart to rerip so many CDs...

If I try to suck in all the MP3s on my MP3 server into a single playlist, I'm afraid I may crash my machine by overrunning its memory. Instead, I just SSHed into the server and did a "df" on that partition - there's 54GB of MP3s on there.

A rough estimate is that 1 minute runs about 1.1 MB. That means I've got about 49,091 minutes, or 818 hours, or about 34 days of music.

I'm not even going to speculate about how much of it is legit.
