It has been established that I like sloe gin, especially when made with <3 wuv! <3.

It has been established that smelling kind of spicy after a shower is nice.

But it has also now been established that I do not enjoy brandied kumquats. Pungent + squishy is pretty much not for me. (I wonder how just the kumquat-flavoured brandy would be... ^_^)

Why limit the lab computers to 800x600? Most of us, I suspect, are *not* vision-impaired, and it's probably the most annoying feature about using the OML. I understand that some may need a lower res., but that's not so hard to allow to be user-changeable, or activate the Magnifier accessibility tool, or mark some computers as "low-res".

It's always been a peeve of mine, and I figure you might actually have a reasonable explanation.

I don't know. It wasn't a choice I, or anyone who actually works in the lab, made. The choices about exactly what software and plugins and what the settings are and the fact that the control panel is (or should be) hidden in the student login were made by the ETS Powers That Be and we have limited ability to change it since decision making power is theirs. That is, if we decide to just change something, the person/people who's supposed to make those choices get unhappy. There's long been a kind of conflict between what we need to do and what they think we should do.

And actually, I get people complaining in the reverse when they get one of the ones which has been set to 1024x768 - "this is too small, I can't see it".

Well, yeah. Which is why the sensical way would be to have a (easily available and safe) taskbar icon to switch res per student preference.

ETS =?

ETS = Educational Technology Services. It's what used to be Audio-Visual services since over the years they have acquired more and more computer functions. I'm not sure who does what, exactly, in terms of network setup, deciding permissions, etc etc.
