Who was it on my friends list that mentioned Uffington Horse yesterdayish? *scratches head* I can't seem to recall. Anyway, apparently "Uffington Horse with Heather Alexander" is playing at Further Confusion in January. (http://www.furtherconfusion.org/fc2005/)

Yep, I'm the Heather/Uffington fangirl. And I'm rather annoyed that there are no concerts planned between now and then. But I am /so/ glad the boys are coming back in January for the 'con! I'm not a furry (unless you ask <lj user=saffron_zephyr) but I would like to learn more about them. And I will do just about anything for a Heather/Uffington concert... :)

I was vaguely considering going to FurCon, since I know a few people who will be there ([livejournal.com profile] baxil for one), but I'm always kind of leery of going to cons without being in a group, because especially at the larger ones I have no way of knowing if I'll actually bump into the people I was hoping to see. Also, I will be going to PantheaCon again next year, which is a month later at the same hotel, and well, it gets kind of expensive. (On the other hand, I live close enough to the DoubleTree to drive home and sleep, which I did one year at BayCon, but that kind of limits my room party options, heheh.)

I'll be at FurCon the entire event. :) Anyway, I reckon you could just swing by during the day once or twice and buy a day pass if the money/time investment is too big a barrier -- or, if you want to attend the whole thing but are concerned you won't have enough to do or any quiet corners to retreat to, you could always help me out on Newsletter. :D

Oh, also... A furry can be anything from "someone who likes a certain animal enough to enjoy dressing up as one and/or playing one as a character" through "someone who idenitifes very strongly with an animal, perhaps with a spirit-guide or totem-type relationship" up to "someone who believes their soul is actually not human, but in fact an animal soul". In this last area there is overlap with "otherkin", who are people who believe themselves to be at least partly non-human (although not always on account of being a reincarnated whatever). The majority of otherkin are elves and fae, with a large contingent of dragons too, although there's also a somewhat separate draconic community just as there's a separate furry/were community and a separate vampiric community. (Members of either will sometimes denounce the concept of otherkin as being ridiculous because they themselves "are at least things which really exist". Pot-kettle-black, I say.)
