This morning I was listening to a show on KFJC (for non-locals, college radio) and it occurred to me that if you just looked at me, you might not think that I liked the kind of music being played.

So what types of music do you like that someone might think was "out of character" if they only looked at you or only knew a little about you?

For me, probably ragtime, disco, bluegrass (yay banjos).

heh.. probably people looking at me wouldn't be surprised to see me listening to the sorta world-trance-folk stuff i sometimes do, certainly not to NPR. They might expect me to listen to the Dead, which i've learned to do from Sindar, but not a lot. They would *not* expect most of the alternative bands i once was heavily in to, like Alien Sex Fiend, Butthole Surfers, Crash Worship, Hawkwind, Laughing Hyenas, Stooges etc. Or industrial. Not to mention experimental noise stuff.

I listen to all kinds of music from classic rock to country to classical to jazz to rap to everything in between. I've never been a fan of just one genre or style. I've always picked and choosed the people that I like from all over the musical map.

I suppose most of the progressive metal, power metal, classic and prog rock, and other assorted rock-type-stuff is what people expect from me. That would leave the jazz, classical, new age, celtic folk, world music, and all manner of other non-rock-type-stuff to throw them for a loop.
