I would like a new keyboard, in black, standard 101-key layout (or whatever the exact number is when you count Windows-key, which isn't "old standard"), nothing "compact" or "slim" (I want a full number pad), nothing "ergonomic" or "comfort" (I have gotten quite used to the "bad" position, thank you), nothing with twenty-five "media station" keys or whatever-the-fuck you want to call all those extra "play", "stop", etc things which often adorn the top or side of keyboards nowadays, and nothing with various "internet function" keys ("get email"). I don't want some kind of desktop set which comes with a tray or whatever (although I might consider one with a wireless mouse, since I want one of those).

Finding this in white/beige is possible. But I just can't seem to find one in black. Black is "cool" and "modern" and so has to have all that extra crap on it, it seems. Is there any such thing as a plain keyboard anymore? (I have this problem with joysticks too. I want a stick, and two fire buttons. That's it. It doesn't need to look like it came out of an F-14 or a Nascar vehicle.)

You can't game with a wireless mouse/keyboard (or combo). The responses and sensativity of the devices just blow. And if you have a combination wireless mouse and keyboard, press a key. Move the mouse while holding the key. What happens? The keyboard signal stops! Oh well, so much for running and firing at the same time....

Since when do I game? I just want a black keyboard.

Oh, maybe you're getting that idea from the fact that I mentioned a joystick. Well, all I want that for is so I can play my C64 emulator games more easily, hence my yearning for simplicity there as with a keyboard. I find keyboard emulation of a joystick to be kind of a pain in the ass, especially for two-player games.

This USB keyboard (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=23-144-013&DEPA=0) seems to be the closest I've found so far.

Argh, I hadn't even thought about that problem.. I need a PS/2 keyboard. I don't know if I have any empty USB ports. Do they even make PS/2 keyboards anymore? *scratches head*

Yeah, in that case here's a PS/2 plain black keyboard. :) (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=23-131-119&depa=0)

OMG! It even has L-shaped Enter with half-size backslash next to half-size backspace on next row up, like my current keyboard! (for some reason that layout seems to be harder to find than "long" enter with one-and-a-half-size backslash above it, and then backpace above that, or worse, backslash on the next to bottom row taking up part of what "shift" should be.) You're a hero. :)
