Date: Jan. 22nd, 2005 12:32 am (UTC)From:7News Chief Meteorologist Todd Gross says the mercury is expected to drop below zero in the suburbs Friday night, and wind chills could make it feel closer to 15 below.
Gross said the snow will start falling around 3 p.m. on Saturday in Boston and Eastern Massachusetts. High winds and heavy snow will pound the area overnight.
A blizzard watch is in effect for Boston, the South Shore, and Cape Cod. At the height of the storm, snow may be falling at rates of three-inches-an-hour.
The snow is expected to taper off by Sunday morning. Some spots could see more than a foot of snow before the storm moves out to sea.
Motorists across southern New England are being urged to complete their travel plans by Saturday morning, or postpone travel until Sunday afternoon.
