I requested to be moved to the new Draknet servers a couple days ago. Having done the physical move of files, it will now take a day or two for the nameservers to be changed and for things to propagate. If I understand this right, this means that email sent to my usual main address (and by extension my livejournal address, which forwards there) may bounce. If you need to contact me in the next couple days and your email bounces, try dronarron @ yahoo.com instead.

Date: Jan. 21st, 2004 02:01 am (UTC)From:I wish that after the last update in December they had bothered to mail saying "ok, change of plans, you're now going to have to request to be moved rather than it happening by default", but they didn't. (It is on the website, but I hadn't checked that in a while) Apparently there are reasons people might want to stay on the old ones, too, hence the decision to require requests.
However - it was explicitly stated that a consequence of the way the new servers are set up is that you get only one "real" account with shell access, and other mailboxes, etc, are aliased. I seem to recall you stating in the past that that was unacceptable so this may not be the choice for you.
The main thing that I wanted was a) regaining control over my sub-accounts and passwords without needing to contact support, and b) enabling of SpamAssassin thus hopefully being able to snag out the tons of fake "microsoft patch" emails I get without having to comb through in webmail or download and filter in mail client (annoying in broadband at work, prohibitive on dialup at home, when I get X-number times 150k each every day).
