Please to be defining "Materialist science", "wilfully blind", and then to be expounding upon that point. I am confused; "materialist" sciences investigate the "living earth", unless something else (and animalistic) is meant by "living" than I understand the word to be.

"Materialist science" here is used to mean that which admits of no spiritual dimension, and insists on a fully mechanical explanation for absolutely everything. "Wilfully blind" would be "purposely ignore". "Living earth" in this sense is "enspirited", that is, being the domain of underworld and faery beings and of Earth's own planetary consciousness. To put it another way, "materialist science" treats Earth as a thing rather than a being.
