Geez, did EVERYONE hate 2009? I mean, I suppose it wasn't the absolute greatest thing ever, but I enjoyed (well, more than I would enjoy the position I left) my first full year of cataloging work in Technical Services and went to my first Harry Potter convention and managed to put on a LE/SS ship meetup there and organize a 'kin gather and took my husband to PantheaCon for the first time and had my first wedding anniversary and got neat perks from having joined a members' club at the local meadery and, erm, it seems unlike the rest of the nation, got a raise (actually a longevity award for 8 years service)... er. Should I not be mentioning any of this...?

Um... I didn't successfully move out of my parents' house because there's no work for web-programmer-type husband. Is that bad enough to count?

Oh, and my mother got shingles in her eye and for almost a whole year now has had to be taking very expensive medication (as in thousands of dollars per year, a good deal of which rests in the Medicare "donut hole") and put in these weird milky drops like three times a day and some kind of moistening gel (?) and the doctor says basically all they can do is hope to suppress it because if not then it basically means losing that eye and she will likely be dealing with it the rest of her life. There. That sucks, yeah?

"Should I not be mentioning any of this...?"

Actually it kind of makes me happy to read that some folks out there had a decent (or even not horrible year). Some light is better than none.

I had a pretty damn awesome 2009, for the most part, too.

Re: your mother, that really does suck. Yikes.

Nah. 2009 was actually a great year for me in a lot of ways.

You're not morally obligated to have had a bad year. XD I mean. It's good that someone didn't. And mine was at least mixed.

My year wasn't horrible either. :P

2009 sucked for the most part, but a lot of that was letting go of painful things. I am happy you had a good year, actually. I agree with whoever said, it's nice to know someone did.

Mine didn't suck all that much, but it seemed like it was a really rough year for everyone around me, so it's sort of put a damper on my enjoyment of it. *shrugs* Onwards and upwards and all that bollocks I suppose. *smirk*

No, I didnt hate 2009. Some bad things happened, but overall it was very very very very positive for me personally. :)

Sorry to hear about your mom!

I'm not writing 2009 off as a crappy year. Some of it was pretty sucky, some of it was pretty great.
