Graaaaah just made delicious bread, chewy and a bit sticky and a bit fluffy and whole wheat and warm and gaaaahhh. I sympathize with raw foodies a lot, but seriously... NOM NOM this is something I would find hard to give up. This must be something civilization was developed around. -348238904230 to saving throw vs. soft butter and a bit of honey.

It gets better than that. Archeologists currently believe that mankind invented bread purely as a convenient way to store the stuff you make BEER from. And beer was the real reason for agriculture, settling down and society.

Hooray for beer. And bread!

Eh if you want to talk in human terms, its giving up raw food and going for cooking that allowed humanity to begin the process of civilization in large part, it certainly cut mortality significantly. There's also the fact that humanity is defined as being different from other animals for the fact that they do use tools the way they do. If you want to talk from more mystic POV, or from 'kin POV, well, we still have to cope with human bodies, and like it or not they tend to require certain things. I for example could never imagine going veg*, my body tells me in no uncertain terms it needs meat, not just protein but meat, animal flesh. Of course I have a particularly weird genetic package, I can sit around eating junk food day and night, be on antiandrogens for 2+ years, and still manage to without significant exercise have basically no bodyfat and a ton of good muscle mass. I sink in freshwater. Eventually I'll find an explanation for this, but I figure I just made out good in the genetic lottery in that part, on the flipside of course I managed to get genes for broken dopaminergic neurotransmission and for teeth that decay at the slightest provocation. *shrugs* Anyhow, I'm rambling. I'll click post.

There is a reason bread is traditionally called the 'staff of life'. Deliciousness probably has something to do with it. :D
