Wow, definitely worth seeing. If this film is actually good, it looks likely to be actually in the same genre as Labyrinth, instead of a completely failed attempt like the wretchedness that was Mirrormask.
I'm not a big fan of horror per se (there's only a very narrow niche of horror that I like, and anything "slasher" is definitely right out), but I usually think of horror as the dark side of fantasy. Dreams and nightmares, you know. What about horror "wrecks" fantasy for you (if you can put it into words)?
Hmmm, I kind of thought those two were in the same genre - same general type of story, albeit executed completely differently (me review (http://ellyssian.livejournal.com/189195.html).) This one looks to be a lot darker, possibly even a horror film, although hopefully a well done one.
I'm so excited about this film. I love del Toro's 'Devil's Backbone', his spanish language films are always much better than his hollywood ones. In Hellboy there is a brief glimpse of some pickled faeries in a jar, and on the commentary he mentions his next film is dealing with his views on faeries and fairytales (which I suppose must be Pans Labyrinth).
