I'm supposed to be getting notifications by email when people reblog things I post on tumblr, right? 'Cause I don't seem to be even though I have that box checked. It's a pain in the butt to try to scroll through my dashboard to pick them out. Am I missing something?

I occasionally get those, but usually it's just easier to see the little "X reblogged your post" notes in your feed. Or if you're not checking as often as that, you can just click the notes and search for whoever's username.

Through some action of your own that made it work, or does it just seem to be by chance? (I get no notifications of reblogging, only when people follow me.)

Which, as I said in the OP, I find to be a pain in the butt :-/ See, I would much rather ignore the Dashboard entirely. If I want to read someone's tumblr I add its RSS feed to Google Reader. There's not necessarily a correspondence between my following someone and my actually reading them (as with LJ and friending).

I'm not searching for reblogs of certain specific posts, or by certain specific people - I just want to be notified that it has happened, anywhere/any time, just as I get a notification if someone leaves a comment anywhere in my LJ. It may be that the Dashboard is the only place I'll be able to see this, but I was hoping someone out there would be able to tell me how they managed to get email notifications working.
