...haha, yeah. I think we worked it out once that it was a little cheaper to go to the farmer's market instead of buying produce at Whole Foods (meat is something else again - yes, kids, there is more expensive meat than Whole Foods), but really it was almost comparable and the benefit was mainly in knowing we were paying the farmers much more directly and in the locavore factor. Though living where we do, the percentage at Whole Foods, and even standard grocery stores, isn't bad; but it seems the farmer's market is the only place I can get snow peas that aren't imported from Mexico. (At least, I assume they're not.)

We had a farmers market near us. It got bought out by a Whole Foods.

The Whole Foods company came and bought the building it was in.

There's a nifty free iOS app I use to find Farmers Markets (there's one for CA only and one for the nation I think, but it includes natural food stores as well). I mean, I have my preferred one, but sometimes I need something before Sunday or am staying in Capitola or something.

Phrase I never thought I'd say, but totally have: "Hey, this was cheaper at Whole Foods."

I may have to look into that. They stock Dubliner at work and I've gotten hooked, but chalked it up as one of those things that would be so expensive that I'd lose money just LOOKING at it...

Nono, I still work at the birth center. We keep food on hand for families (and postpartum staff is allowed to eat when we're on 24-hour shifts), and of course cheese is a big thing - easy to serve up for snacks. It used to just be giant bricks of cheddar, but now there's this amazing creamy soft cheese (don't know the brand) and Dubliner showing up as well - and I am SO hooked on BOTH of them. And I haven't spent all of my food stamps this month, so it might be worth hitting up Whole PaycheckFoods and getting myself a brick. ;)
