I've been creating a list of the various things a replacement for me would have to be trained to do if I can manage to insert myself into Tech Services, or in any event when I resign to leave for Canada.
I've come up with 23 different things. Several of them are pretty detailed, but still. I'm amused by the number because it's 23, and because I really didn't think it was that large.
Edit: Oh darn, I just thought of two more. That kind of ruins it. Ah well.
( If you want to see the list )

May. 25th, 2004 04:45 pmI'm up to 27 various tasks someone would have to learn to do. I commented to
enotsola that it seems I have to know a surprising amount of stuff just to be functional, never mind actually do my job well.

free green things!
May. 25th, 2004 06:48 pmFree Trees and Plants - sends you various plants for "free", that is, you pay a shipping cost. However, especially in the case of trees, it appears to be a lot cheaper than actually buying said plants from a nursery. The Arbor Day Foundation will also send you 10 free trees when you join ($10). (I only wish I had room for 10 trees on my property, heh...)

I am not believing what I'm reading here. As far as I can tell,
plutoinlove is saying that a study of history has no relevance to practicing or constructing a spiritual tradition, and that she feels her time spent thus was wasted. I agree that details of civil wars, succession of government leaders, etc. is probably not directly meaningful, but I find myself just flabbergasted at the suggestion that studying the history of a people is irrelevant to practicing a spirituality that you claim takes elements from their cultural milieu. Note that I am not saying you must justify your religion's existence (as she seems to think I am), but that I flat disagree that there is no connection and that time so spent was ill-used.
