arethinn: glowing green spiral (squiggly bits (techy))
Does anyone have any ideas for recycling, or otherwise environmentally-consciously disposing of, tons and tons of VHS cassettes? We have a bunch of outmoded accounting course tapes at work, among other things, and I stridently refuse to simply throw them away. The TV center doesn't want them back for re-use. We tried offering them to the staff to take for free to tape over, and had no takers. Sometime last summer there was a big truck parked in the quad which had some kind of huge shredder, and we were given to understand that the resulting plastic mess was not simply discarded but actually destined for some kind of recycling. If true, I have no idea how to get such a thing to happen at my behest.

Any non-trash suggestions?

You cannot lightly toast bread by laying it on the still-very-hot burner which has just been used to boil water for tea. All you get is a sizzle, a stench of burnt sugar, and some scorched crumbs. No toasting.

I just thought you all should know that.

(I toasted bread over the flame of burning Bacardi 151 once. What a waste, eh?)
