Oct. 5th, 2007 12:24 pmI'm having another one of those days where everything seems beautiful and I'm soppily in love with the world.
the shapes of cirrus clouds are stunning
and the cold, straight line of a slightly rusting lamppost
and the wind tangling my hair seems affectionate rather than annoying
and the light bouncing off the cold, dark grey asphalt of the parking garage floor lights up every white California license plate with its own inner glow.

advancements in post filtering
Oct. 5th, 2007 01:01 pm"Users will be be able to filter their entries according to their security settings by appending the argument security=friends, security=public, security=friends or security=customgroupname to their journal URLs. Style System 1 users will see filtered pages in the style that is used to display their tag pages and not in their own styles."
YES FINALLY
When this is implemented I will be thrilled. I have wanted this feature forever, the ability to see what posts I posted within a certain filter. Now that I actually use tags, if I am careful to tag entries as I make posts to custom filters, I can use that to gain sort of the same effect, but, for example, I don't tag my posts locked only to friends-in-general as "friends", so I don't currently have an easy way to display only those posts when looking at my own journal. Security=public will be useful too -- right now what I have to do if I want to see what my journal looks like to someone I don't have friended is to either log out, or open Internet Explorer (where I am never logged in anyway).
yaytastic!

Oct. 5th, 2007 01:31 pmSome photographic equivalents of doodles. The one of the palm tree and the parking garage is actually with the "long exposures" ones, but I was trying to hold still while taking it rather than purposely moving. Of course, without a tripod, camera shake was inevitable, but at this size and with some sharpening it's not quite as visible. Also, it's not visible at thumbnail size, but the one out the window with clouds has some bizarre moire patterns from the window screen I was taking the picture through.

Oct. 5th, 2007 01:33 pmLast one. I have no idea what this sign was supposed to really mean. It was stuck to one of the pillars of the only "condemned" building on campus (i.e., there are signs which say "this structure is not built to seismic safety codes; enter at your own risk", and it is generally locked, disused, and full of junk, dust, and spiders).
