arethinn: Wednesday Addams looking a bit crazy (weird (wednesday))
I may possibly be going on this next year. OMG SQUEE was the first thought that went through my head when I saw the post on the mailing list and then ...fuck Disney World! (which was a way to blow a couple grand we are/were possibly going to do next March or so; obviously can't afford both). This is from the Irish ex-pat dude who is the... uh... meader... whatever the equivalent to "vintner" is for mead... (master brewer? they do also make beer) at the local meadery whose tasting-room-cum-bar (it's not, not by the laws of CA, but we jokingly refer to it as "the pub") [livejournal.com profile] enotsola and I frequent.

I'm putting together a trip to Ireland in the summer of 2010 for 20-30
people. More if there is demand.

I'd like to take our traveling companions by tour bus through a journey
around the west of Ireland to visit some of the places that are unique
to the west of Ireland. If it works out we'd be staying in some really
nice hotels and castles, visit some really cool places and of course do
some major pub crawls and sessions in many of the pubs I grew up going to.

From Satellite News:

You-know-what may have finally frozen over. TVGuide.com is reporting that Universal will be re-releasing Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie on DVD on May 6th. While we haven’t received confirmation of this ourselves, this news comes from our old friend David Lambert, TVGuide.com Content Contributor and News Director of TVShowsOnDVD.com, so we’re pretty confident of its accuracy.

The new DVD will once again be a bare-bones release, with only the original theatrical trailer thrown in as an extra. But it’s reported that the movie itself will be a new anamorphic widescreen transfer with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound mix and a French Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track.

Yee-haw! I have the movie because I bought "The Movie and a Chunk" when they had carved up the Deep 13 set and were selling it off (so I bought an expensive, kitschy chunk of styro about three inches cubed, but hey. It's MSTie cred), but it's on VHS, one of the few things I still turn my VCR on for.

I would say "I guess Universal knows what side their bread is buttered on", except that I really don't think this is that big a slice of their profits. But yay anyway! *pencils in the date*

Yay, I has a Deathly Hallows, courtesy [livejournal.com profile] fenm! Nice clean copy, too (is it new? oh my), much better shape than the library copy I have been clinging to. (Sad what people will do to books.)

Amusingly, the two movies I am giving her in return also showed up in the mail today. But, um, there is a small winged insect in the lotion. There's no address on the package for me to mail back to! (Maybe it got stripped in transit?)

Illume "Vanilla Amberwood" scent candles = droooooooool. Delicious and spicy and a little rich and slightly sweet and I wish I had a fragrance oil like this (and that they came in beeswax or at least palm or soy instead of only paraffin). If it didn't smell good on me, I could liberally apply it to [livejournal.com profile] enotsola, who would then be summarily et with a spoon. (Special note to [livejournal.com profile] enotsola: under no cirumstances combine this with that other stuff we were talking about yesterday. The results could be... troublesome.)

I mostly-synchronized my userpics on LiveJournal and InsaneJournal (there are some on LJ I just don't need on IJ, like the MST3K ones). This seems to have had the side effect that when I "post to multiple journals" from Semagic, the same picture appears on each post because the keywords are identical (at least, I assume that's why, because the pic IDs aren't). Yay!

*does a little dance* I'm seeing people actually use some of my icons! And off LiveJournal, even!

[livejournal.com profile] the_lj_herald claims:

"Users will be be able to filter their entries according to their security settings by appending the argument security=friends, security=public, security=friends or security=customgroupname to their journal URLs. Style System 1 users will see filtered pages in the style that is used to display their tag pages and not in their own styles."

YES FINALLY

When this is implemented I will be thrilled. I have wanted this feature forever, the ability to see what posts I posted within a certain filter. Now that I actually use tags, if I am careful to tag entries as I make posts to custom filters, I can use that to gain sort of the same effect, but, for example, I don't tag my posts locked only to friends-in-general as "friends", so I don't currently have an easy way to display only those posts when looking at my own journal. Security=public will be useful too -- right now what I have to do if I want to see what my journal looks like to someone I don't have friended is to either log out, or open Internet Explorer (where I am never logged in anyway).

yaytastic!
