ETA: I actually got one "What's a Peep?" answer, so for the benefit of the British (I think she is), and anyone else: Peeps are an Easter candy (although they also now come in other holiday themed shapes too), marshmallow coated in coloured sugar, in the shape of chicks, (flat) bunnies, or (flat) eggs.
Even the website talks about eating them stale, LOL.
