OMG FINALLY

Seriously. I only want to get comment notifications in email. Nowhere else. I understand that others may feel differently, but that's why there should be options boxes for it, not a forced setting. It's bugged me for ages that I have to go periodically clean out an inbox I don't really want in the first place. Well, I suppose I didn't have to -- I don't know if it would eventually fill up and start deleting older ones without my interference, or something -- but I hated having the mess sit there. When they implemented the "delete everything in folder except flagged" button it was a great help, rather than having to go through it page by page like you used to (and like InsaneJournal still is, and I should note also that the "check all" box on each page in IJ doesn't work so I have to click each one individually), but it still meant having to remember to make a special visit to a page I otherwise had no occasion to load and which wasn't part of my LJ routine.

*fistpump* Yes. And this, exactly. There is a reason why my inbox is 1778 messages long, and that reason is: I want the notification e-mails, I do not want the notification messages, and I think duplication was dumbdumbdumberthandirt, and Yay.

I cant wait to empty my LJ inbox. I dont use it much, I have had to keep messages for a while as a woman who was booted from the theatre group for harrassment of several members, used LJ for a while to harrass me, and I needed to keep messages in case it escalated (it was getting very close to calling the Police!). I have hung on to them for a while since "just in case" but can really I reckon get rid of them now.

You can do that anyway. This is talking about how they've finally implemented an option to turn off the inbox notifications for comments on your journal. If you mean private messages, you can't turn that off and actually I think that's sensible, since they don't exist anywhere else in your journal but the message inbox (unlike comments).
