(no, not in relation to taxes. I don't make enough for "itemized deductions" to make any sense.)

Since making the mistake of sending a traceable contribution to a charity gets you on their mailing list forever (e.g., NOW) as well as netting you tons of mail from related organizations and even seemingly unrelated ones, I had the idea that it might be nice to send anonymous cash to charities whose mailing lists I don't really want to be on, but whose causes I support. But are they able to actually do anything with any $20 bill I would send in their reply envelopes, or does it not "count" because of the tax laws regarding non-profits? I mean, do they have to spend it on lunch rather than adding it to the overall revenue because of its undocumentable source, or what?

I would suppose that a money order with a name but no address would work.

No, it gets accounted in just the same way as a check.

You can also, when you send a traceable contrbution, specify that you want no mail, and to be on no mailing lists, and they have to comply.

As long as they're not spending the money on anything covered by campaign finance laws, there should be no problem. And if they do electoral politics, they probably have different accounts for regulated and unregulated money.

As long as they're not all politics, all the time, I wouldn't worry about it.
