enotsola and I think we've come up with the reason why image filenames on deviantArt are sometimes something random-looking like e3e303d151d82974e36b0af65d228309.jpg and not the easily-readable naming system like Night_fairy_by_Lillucyka.jpg.
When you upload a picture to deviantArt, you can choose how big you want the "full view" size to be. For certain sizes of pictures (ca. under 900px wide) this can result in the fullview being "original size". There is also a box you can check to disallow downloading of the full-size, original file. Usually that file would be somewhat bigger than "fullview" (2000px wide, whatever) but in some cases they can be the same.
Result, in the case where "download" of original size is not allowed, but the one displayed on fullview is identical to original anyway, it hashes up the filename. Obviously this doesn't prevent a human browsing the page from saving the image anyway, so we figure it must be to prevent bots from spidering useful filename info or something.
