Oct. 7th, 2020 11:06 pm*sigh* Smoke from fires in the general region has the local AQI numbers not terrible, but high enough that we don't want to open the windows for cooling. Net result, given heat put out by two live bodies, two computers, and three monitors, we are running the room air conditioner to keep it down in the mid-70s in here when it is only 58 degrees outside. Pfeh.

Yikes. Although if 17, 9, and 1 were all closed at various points this morning, I have no idea how my boss Tom got to work, since I thought he lived in Santa Cruz.

Apr. 11th, 2014 11:23 amCalifornia drought: El NiƱo could bring big storms next winter, new report says
A wet winter would be good, don't get me wrong, but get a load of this:

The conditions in the image on the right resulted in a winter with double average rainfall. The one on the left is what's massing out there right now. It's not certain next winter's rainfall will be above average (estimates are around 66% chance, quotes the article), but this is like... possibly flooding and mudslides and other miscellaneous destruction kind of rain, here. *insert mumbling about climate change and resulting greater extremes of weather*

WTF, weather? Having mood swings, are we?
It's not unusual for it to still be in the high 70s, even 80F this time of year, but 90F is right out, and then to be that chilly at night into the bargain? Very weird.
I JUST WANT TO MAKE A POT ROAST AND NOT BE RUNNING THE OVEN AND THE A/C AT THE SAME TIME FOR 3 1/2 HOURS. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK
p.s. and here I am wearing a long-sleeved turtleneck shirt because it is bloody cold in my office.
