I want my name to reflect...

...the Green World.
...being a small, insignificant part, yet one with beauty.
...darkness and shadows.
...the stars.
...blue-violet, perhaps glowing, and also green/silver/black.
...sparkling and shining.
...the Otherworld.
...a jewel-toned rainbow (rubies, emeralds, sapphires, amethyst...).
...utopian futurism.
...wit, charm, and humour.

Do you see the problem? See how many words I had to use just now? How can I reasonably expect a single word or phrase, save it be a "true name" kind of thing (which would sound silly whether right or no, and in any event, I wouldn't use it; I've already got one, and I don't use it this way), to do all of that?

(I must be way beyond nice, since I've been named way beyond twice!)

Idea-fragments that came together for me in a Moment last night:

Seeking without vs. seeking within for answers -- Underworld Initiation stuff about asking the right Questions of Otherworld beings -- and Questions and Answers being in symbolic, rather than verbal, form -- and the importance of, on being presented with the (symbols of) the Answer, being willing and able to ask the right Question -- the Babylon 5 scene Archer typed up on Other Haven -- and comment thereon, "who am I?" answered not with a right answer, but by throwing out the wrong ones.

All this boils down to: Answers are indeed found within, not without; but you can't just go looking for them and expect them to be there whole cloth. If you ask no question you will get no answer. If you ask the wrong question, for example too broad and direct "tell me what to do", you will get no response, or faulty responses. The answers do not appear in that form and cannot be gotten by that kind of question. The "answers" are in the form of responsory resonances. The "questions" are in presenting various possibilities and checking for the presence of the response. In this way, Question and Answer are actually one; what is inside oneself is not the answers per se, but the mechanism for telling when you've got a correct match.

I was aware of Ishkur's electronic music guide well before [livejournal.com profile] kaidevis posted a link to it earlier today (like... a couple years, when I was a regular/mod at bluelight.nu), but in any case, on listening through it again, I'm still very amused by the updated versions of some of the text, most of which are different than the last time I looked at it. However, this one struck me on a deeper level than amusement:

"Noisecore is not music insomuch as it is anti-music. It is a recreation of the sounds in our modern technological society through an abrasive form. In this instance, then, what is commonly considered noise is not. It is simply part of our surroundings through a grual introduction. Read more... )
