Very odd feeling just now. I smiled when I laughed at something someone else said in the room, and as I did so my head swam (literally -- dizziness) for a moment with a thought of why am I not feeling my bottom lip touch my fangs? It was like trying to lean on something and it suddenly not being there. My lip went "through" the phantom feeling. Made my skin kind of crawl.

Weird.

friends-list vagaries

I don't understand the logic of telling someone you are unfriending them. If you don't want them on your friends list anymore, why not just do so quietly, and if they want to take issue with it they can? Everyone has their reasons for unfriending, but if it's not a mutual falling-out (so the cause is clear), then why make a point of telling someone why they have now displeased you or you are no longer interested in them?

In a similar vein, why tell someone who has friended you that you are not friending them back, if they didn't post in your journal saying "hey please add me"? For an analogy, imagine that you are at a party. You see someone whose outfit you like, and walk over to them and say so. You ask them what they think of your outfit and they say "Actually, I don't like it very much." Well, you did ask. Now suppose that you simply catch eyes with this person across the room, but don't say anything. They later come up to you and say "I noticed you looking at my outfit. I don't like yours." Doesn't that seem rude or mean somehow? Uncalled for in any event, I think...

The unofficial opinion of one of the resident immigration consultants on misc.immigration.canada, on seeing my CAIPS notes:

"Not much more information there. The Background check is done. You might want to send in a new FBI certificate now as the one you submitted was dated March of 2003. Otherwise your file is complete. They may or may not ask for a new FBI certificate so you would be covering all bases by obtaining a new one. I am assuming that you never indicated that you would be marrying your Canadian fiance and being sponsored."

(after a response that no, I am not trying to do any sponsorship thing)

"Well you passed and they are processing your case normally for a Skilled Worker. It should be finished soon. Good luck in Canada! Jim Humphries"

Hands up if you think it is unethical to show people someone's public livejournal post by copying and pasting it to a mailing list or something without first getting the permission of the poster to do so.

Now, hands up if you think it is unethical to show people someone's public livejournal post by giving them its URL without first getting the permission of the poster to do so.

No, me neither.

What is the deal with people thinking they can stop people from giving links to things they have publically posted? People who say "hey, you can't link to my website", or "you can't show anyone that post I made" on a public board where anyone random could have strolled by and seen it anyway? If you want to control who sees it, take advantage of the methods available to you for doing so. I am not violating your copyright or anything if I merely give a link to something you put in a public place.

...there's a Canadian consulate in San Jose? WTF?
