Oct. 9th, 2007 09:58 pmthe stars in the clouds
my sisters, my friends!
you drive the night-winds that tangle the hair
the moon our young brother
lights up the sky-paths
leading the way to the goblins' fall Fair
Yes, I know it is a new moon and there is no lighting of sky-paths going on right now. The phase of the moon is one of those things I am pretty much constantly aware of. Just a little word picture, ok? Those seem to be assaulting me from multiple angles lately. Darker portion of the year (ca. October - February) tends to agree with me energetically and produce more blithering.

Oct. 9th, 2007 10:47 pmI don't get it. What's so special about most Photoshop brushes that you have to download them (and be protective of them if you've made them)? As far as I can tell, making a brush is as easy as:
1. Make a cool scribble.
2. Select Edit > Define Brush Preset...
3. Profit!
I mean, unless I were doing a theme where I wanted a whole series to have an identical element -- and you know, you can achieve the same thing by simply copying a layer or bundle of layers from one document to another -- it would seem to me that using a brush would give an undesirable monotony to the decorative aspects of one's icons, and that it would be better (art-ethically) to do each one by hand, so each one would be its own little craftwork (Kraftwerk?).
This is not really a slam on people who DO do this, I just don't get why brush packages and stuff are so hip that there are entire communities just for that.
