http://www.patheos.com/community/paganportal/2011/10/16/the-rise-of-the-working-poor-occupy-wall-street-goes-global/ - post from Star Foster. Some interesting comments.

http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/10/kristen_christian_bank_boycott_bank_transfer_day_occupy_wall_street.php - I've actually been contemplating what this movement or boycott or whatever you want to call it suggests for some time (to pull my remaining money out of Wells Fargo and put it in my credit union; currently it's split about 30/70, I think), but not particularly because of ideological reasons or annoyance with increasing fees. (I usually have enough on deposit that I escape them, so they're mostly invisible to me, although that might change soon... better reread the latest dispatch from them.) Rather, simply because my credit union offers better interest rates. Not great (is there any such thing these days?), but better, as in existent, whole numbers in front of the decimal point instead of fractions of a percent that are just about as good as sticking it under the mattress.

(Odd logo:

I mean, I get it - November 5th and all - but still, strange to see the American flag combined with a V mask.)

arethinn: Bastian from the Neverending Story with book, text "can't talk, dorking" (geeky (bastian dorking))
Has anyone out there, perchance, seen even part of Get Lamp? Do you think it's worth $45? It is, er, relevant to my interests, but I don't know if I want to pay that even for 2 DVDs and a collectible coin. (And understandably, but sadly for me, the coin's text seems to be from ADVENT and not Zork.)
arethinn: Alice in Wonderland upside down (weird (alice upside down))
I'm sure many of you have seen posts of fashion disasters from 70s catalogs and magazines, but this post on Visual News today had some new ones on me. Urge to riff... rising... Read more... )

Oolon Colluphid says:
ummm?

Arianwydd says:
"Screech - a 40% alcohol rum from Newfoundland. Very potent, nearly like moonshine." sooo exactly as potent as most other spirits, and in fact genuine moonshine would probably be stronger
sorry, peeve
when people get the idea one alcohol [of the same percentage strength] is somehow magically stronger than another

Oolon Colluphid says:
genuine screech is stronger

Arianwydd says:
i know
genuine screech IS moonshine
just not from corn
screech here [a piece of art] is being used as a brand name i think*
i think i recall seeing it

Oolon Colluphid says:

Arianwydd says:
